Exodus and How God Delivers Us From Sin

I felt a strong urge to begin re-reading the Book of Exodus the past few days. It is always amazing how scriptures we read while studying the Bible can minister to us in different ways, no matter how many times we read them.

I have read Exodus before, but there are many things I noticed this time that I may not have paid much attention to before.

Exodus is when God really makes Himself known to His people, instead of individual men as before.

He introduces Himself to the Israelites with signs, wonders, and precious promises. It is not a sugar-coated account either because you can see many sides of Jehovah in the book.

  • He is Jealous for His people.
  • He is vengeful towards their oppressors.
  • His anger is kindled more than once when they try Him and refuse to believe Him.
  • He shows His power to deliver, to heal, and to set free.
  • He also shows His power to kill, to chastise, and to keep His word about disobedience.

The Real Meaning of The Rainbow is in The Bible

After the monumental decision by the Supreme Court to allow same-sex couples to marry, I knew it was yet another inch closer to the days Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24, and His imminent return.

Let me first say that this post will not attempt to sway you in your views about the Supreme Courts ruling. It would be a waste of time as those who belong to God know and understand the sanctity of marriage and how it originated already.

I want to discuss the rainbow and its true meaning. The rainbow is one of those wonders that God created in the Earth that not only reminds us of Him, but also reminds Him of us. The true meaning of the rainbow comes from the Bible.

Genesis 9:13 says:
I set My bow [rainbow] in the cloud, and it shall be a token or sign of a covenant or solemn pledge between Me and the earth. (Amplified version)

What Do You See? The Lord has Given You the Promised Land, Do You Receive it?

When the children of Israel sent twelve spies to the Promised Land, there were 10 that came back with what the Bible calls "an evil report," while Joshua and Caleb reported that they were well able to conquer the land.

It is intriguing that the twelve spies went to the same land, saw the same giants, and spent the same amount of time surveying the land, yet only two had a good report.

Numbers 13:32-33 says:
And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eat up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
The Bible calls the report of the other ten spies evil because it was contrary to what God had already told them.

Whose report will you believe when faced with "facts" and "circumstances?" Are you like Joshua and Caleb who view the circumstance based on God's Word, or are you like the majority who fail to see things the way God says so and ultimately expect defeat?

How we view what we are going through is extremely important to the outcome. It was Joshua and Caleb who ultimately led the children of Israel into the Promised Land. They were also rewarded with more land for them and their families because of their faith in God's Word.

Our families will be positively or negatively impacted by our faith or lack thereof. But we cannot have faith in God when we do not read His Word. It is impossible.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Patience: The Necessary Character Trait for Victory

Living in our present time of instant gratification and instant results has in many ways been a hindrance and a bit misleading. It doesn't take a Believer in Christ long to realize that GOD does not do many things instantly. GOD is more concerned with the quality and completion of the work than the speed.

James 1:2-4 says it like this:
My brothers, count it all joy when you fall into diverse trials; knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Why Your Plans Will Fail, But Everything Will Work Out By GOD's Grace

I was meditating on a few things this morning and thinking about the wisdom of GOD. There are countless times when I have made a plan and what I planned just did not work out that way. No disclaimers, my plan simply failed.

This has not always been the case. There are a few instances where I can actually recall my plan working out just as I planned - but this is the exception, not the rule.

Why do our plans fail? How can we have peace when they don't come to pass? Proverbs 16:9 says:
A man's heart devises his way: but the LORD directs his steps.
My best explanation for plans failing is based on the fact that we as humans do not have enough information to actually make plans. Think about it:

  • We do not know the future
  • We have no way to plan for the unexpected circumstances that might occur

The Names Of God in The Old Testament

God as we know Him has always been and always will be. He has no beginning and no end. His wisdom is shown throughout the cosmos and our home, planet Earth.

When Moses was called by God to go deliver the children of Israel, he asked God who should He say sent him?

God replied, "I AM." He further explained that He was " I AM that I AM."

Seems kind of weird for a name, right?

After the Israelites were delivered, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. During this time, I AM revealed who He was by His what He did.

God revealed who He was by what He did.

If you feel lost, confused or struggle with unbelief, please use this as a reference. Call on The Lord and watch Him show up. He knows your heart, so you don't have to be fancy with your words or know what to say - simply call out to I AM and what Him become what you need!

Keep pressing. Your labor is not in vain.

Trials and Tribulations and Their Disguised Blessings

We all have them, and we all wish that they would go away -- forever. I'm talking about trials and tribulations.

As the people of God, we must endure trials and tribulations. The world goes through their own as well. However, the purpose behind ours is unique. These detested things offer hidden blessings and provide lasting wisdom that will help us and others as we continue to travel the narrow road, on our way to the strait gate.

KEEP CALM: God has not forgotten about you. It's only a test!

When we feel deserted by God, or that we are being tested beyond our limits, we can be assured that there is a purpose.

Sometimes tests reveal areas within us we are unaware of, or think we've "mastered." We find ourselves responding in ways that even shock us.

At these times, we must simply ask for forgiveness and work on that area. God is faithful to forgive once we confess our sins.

More importantly, we must humble ourselves and seek His face. He knows more about us than we do yet still loves us.

So don't be discouraged if you fail a test (in your mind), because sometimes GOD is not testing us on what we think, rather testing our hearts and willingness to repent and move forward.

This race is not given to the swift or strong, rather to those who endure and keep going.

We can overcome. Our righteousness is not of ourselves.

God's Word is true. Do you have what it takes to possess your Promised Land?

The children of Israel were tried, proved, and taken into the wilderness. This time in their lives was not permanent, but most of them had the mindset that it was. This caused them to prolong their time in the wilderness and delay their promise.

The Lord never intended for their transitional period to become their home for 40 years.

How many of us get stuck in transitions?

We must understand that our promised land includes all of the promises that we are seeking from God but have yet to possess.

Possessing our promises requires diligence, obedience and war. Joshua led the children of Israel in many battles.

But we also see the children of Israel losing battles where there was disobedience towards God.

There is a purpose in the battle.

So many times we want to possess financial freedom, healing, strength, joy, peace, and all the other promises given to us through Jesus Christ; but these promises come with a battle.

We battle our former nature before Christ; the devil that wants to take us back out of The Kingdom of Light and into darkness; and opposition that he sends through people: family, friends, coworkers, etc.

The battle is real.

But The battle is rigged. God has already given as victory. However, there are character traits we must develop which are best developed in conflict.

Just like a diamond is perfected under pressure.

The Lord knows our hearts better than we do. Some of us would not make it into the kingdom if we possessed our promises instantly.

But if we continue to stand on God's word, praise him even when we don't feel like it, and pour out to others (dying to ourselves), we transform.

We become conformed to the image of Christ through suffering, affliction, and brokenness.

Do not be discouraged. You have the victory. Keep standing on God's word and you will surely possess all the promises that God has promised you.

Like Joshua, believe God and do not faint at the giants which try to keep you from your promise. Giants do die!

You can do all things through Christ which strengthens you.

Be blessed!

I'm Leaving, I Don't Have To Take This...Persecuted for Christ

This morning I woke up to a CNN alert about a Canadian Pastor who was being held in North Korea after an aid mission.

Yesterday, I went to lunch with a girlfriend who needed godly counsel about a personal situation that was unfair.
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 2 Timothy 3:12
Seems like every time we turn around as the people of God, we are being targeted and unfairly accused or mistreated. This is definitely NOT FAIR!

2 Timothy 2:12 (NLT)
If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us.
But, let's look at 1 Peter 4:16 (KJV):
"Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf."
Now, it is easy to read this scripture and just dismiss it as another scripture, but let's apply it to our daily lives. Circumstances where we as Christians are targeted and falsely accused and / or mistreated for the sake of Christ:
  • You may be the only Christian in your office, and therefore mocked, laughed at, or rejected because you do not take part in the worldly festivities.
  • You could be a Woman of GOD who is married to an unbeliever and therefore subject to mistreatment at times by your husband.
  • You might be a friendly volunteer who like to dedicate some time to your favorite causes and some of the other people just don't like you. No reason, just don't like you.
Let's establish that first of all you are not of the same kingdom as the world. The Word of GOD plainly tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV):
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
While your body has not changed, your spirit, priorities, and thoughts have. In fact, day by day you are either drawing closer to the Spirit of your Heavenly Father or backsliding into your old nature. Whatever you feed will grow.

Romans 8:5 (NIV)
"Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires."
There has been a change in you and whether you know it or not, it is seen by those around you. So, there is an automatic distinction between you and others who are not followers of Christ.

Colossians 1:13 (NIV)
"For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and transferred us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,"
As I mentioned earlier, you are no longer in the same kingdom. There is a difference now and the kingdom of darkness will reject you. They rejected Jesus Christ and continue to so we are no different.

This is one of the reasons why you are hated for no reason; accused of thinking you are better; mocked or persecuted. You can either allow this to take you back into your old sinful nature, or you can grow in grace and grow stronger in your faith.

So, why would God allow this for his greatly beloved children? What parent would allow their children to be misused?

There has to be a contrast between us and the world. We cannot call ourselves citizens of the Kingdom of God while we continue to manifest the works of the flesh, which are:
Galatians 5:19-21 (KJV)
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings (excessive partying i.e. clubbing, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
There is supposed to be a contrast between us and the world. We should not in anyway be mistaken as the world. We are the light of the world and our lifestyles should catch peoples attention. Sometimes the very person we receive the most hatred from is the very person that will give their lives to Christ because of our conduct.

It is not easy to endure these things, but Jesus Christ requires us to be patient and long-suffering with others just as He has been with us when we walked in sin and darkness.

Personally, I can think of the many men and women of GOD that were sent across my path to bring me back into fellowship with Christ, but I did not want to hear anything they had to say. I willfully walked in sin because I thought it was fun and easier than living a godly life.

Well, I can tell you that when the devil got through beating me up I was running back to my Father. You see, even though I was living an ungodly lifestyle, I was still God's daughter. Remember the prodigal son?

He went out to a far country and lived like the citizens of that country (just like when we walk away from Holiness to live a life displeasing to the Lord), but when he came to himself and remembered who His Father was, He went back home!

Whether you are living in sin or struggling with some things, the devil and his kingdom know that you belong to God. You won't have much success out there. The Lord will send His servants to find His lost daughter or son because He knows you by name and have numbered the hairs on your head.

There is good news. As a child of God, you are favored by God (though hated by mankind) -- this isn't fair either.
  • You have favor in situations that the children of the world do not enjoy.
  • God hears and answers your prayers.
  • He will avenge you of your enemies.
  • He has not forgotten about the mistreatment you endure, but He allows it to produce the fruit of the Spirit in your life.
  • You have divine favor that others do not enjoy.
  • You are blessed!
To be blessed means:
"happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable"
People are angry at you for a reason.
People envy you for a reason.
People want your life for a reason.
God designed it to be like that.

Maybe they will decide to come out of sin because of the blessings God pours out on you. Maybe they will see that there is something to your God, that He is real, that He is worth a try...

Don't allow the tactics of the enemy to cause you distress. Give over your circumstances to the Lord and when His purpose is accomplished, He will reward you OPENLY.

Those who have mistreated you without cause will be an audience to your increase, your blessings, your prosperity. God's Word is true and cannot return void. Trust Him!

God purposely surrounded you with enemies, to show His glory and to show off His child:

"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows."
 1 Peter 2:11 -12 (NLT)

Dear friends, I warn you as "temporary residents and foreigners" to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.
So what can you do to help yourself? Here are some helpful scriptures that will give you real results:

  • Prayer of protection: Psalms 91
  • Prayer that assures you God is watching and will act on your behalf: Psalms 37
  • Prayer for when you feel like God has forgotten or abandoned you: Psalms 23 & 27
  • Prayer of repentance when you get in the flesh and allow Satan to use your mouth against others: Psalms 51
  • Prayer to make sure you're keeping the right company to receive God's blessings: Psalms 1
If you have a specific issue you need Word for, leave it in the comments. There is a weapon for every dart the enemy sends against us.

Never Forget:

Isaiah 54:17: "no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me," declares the LORD."

There is no such thing as Christian Yoga, Please Do Not Be DECEIVED!

There was a time in my life when I was searching for something, some practice, some routine for relaxation and exercise.

I began to do yoga because I was unaware and ignorant.

But the devil does not care how ignorant we are.

In fact, the Bible tells us: "Me people perish for lack of knowledge." Hosea 4:6

Thankfully, I had a pastor who was not afraid of telling me the truth.

When he first told me the truth about yoga and its true purpose, I rejected it.

I did not want to accept it.

However, I prayed and asked God for confirmation and sure enough - it is a very demonic and a deception the devil is using to yolk people to demonic powers. It is rooted in Hindu worship and the poses are used as a form of worship to Hindu deities.

2 Timothy 4:3 - "For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

He who has an ear, let him hear...
