I remember when I first prayed for God to grant me a desire to study His word, I was only interested in the New Testament. We are no longer under the law and why should I read about the law? Oh, how wrong I was, and in His mercy, I began to desire to read about the pre-Jesus era. There are many hidden treasures within the Old Testament and what I call "shortcuts and insights" into the ways and actions of God.
If you are reading this and do not have a foundation of believing every word within the Word, what I will write will shock and possibly appall you. But don't fret because "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God!" The more you hear His words, faith will begin to take root. When this happens, WATCH OUT! Faith is what pleases God..
Genesis 1:1-3 gives us a picture of what the beginning was like. We know that God created heaven and earth and everything within...but it tells us much more :-)
Verse 3: And God said "Let there be light," and there was light. Verse 27: So God created human beings in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
So far we know that God created us in His image and that He said "Let there be light." What is the connection? Why is this important? Whats the application to our lives as believers?
We are created in God's image people, His very image. God spoke everything into existence. Throughout the Word of God we are given explicit instructions to model ourselves after the Lord. So why do we insist on saying things that defeat and CONTRADICT the Word of God?
"I've been praying for that job BUT I know I won't get it."
"My kids are bad"
"My life sucks"
See, these may all be accurate descriptions of your current situation. But Hebrews 11:1 states that faith is being sure of what we HOPE for and CERTAIN of what we do not see (NLT). "Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for and the EVIDENCE of things unseen." So how much faith do you really have if all you speak is what you see? 2 Corinthians 5:7 states that we WALK (action) by faith, not by sight."
By faith, speak what you HOPE for and not what you see. If we are made in God's very image and we see countless times throughout the Bible how powerful His words are -- we can only conclude how powerful our words are. I could give you many more scripture to back up what I am saying but this would be a novel, not a blog :-)
Hello everyone and thank you for visiting my blog. I really have no time for a blog but I feel compelled to share with the world the Grace, Mercy, and Love that God has to share with everyone who accepts Him and His son, Jesus Christ. This is not your typical Christian blog as I do not debate or argue the Bible (Romans 14:1). I also do not give my opinion, only His Word.
You will also find excerpts of personal experiences to encourage you and demonstrate the power of God. May God bless and keep you until His return.
